Case study 1 - family bathroom in large Victorian house:
A family bathroom on the top floor of a large Victorian house designed for the clients' teenage kids.
The old bathroom was dated and very colourful. The bathroom had several difficulties to overcome: uneven walls and floors, a step in the floor, two poles, a lot of boxing ins, sloping ceilings and a beam.
The client's brief:
A light, contemporary and practical bathroom with some storage, a bath and a large shower area. It should be fully tiled and have underfloor heating.
Glossy white oblong wall tiles in combination with forgiving grey floor tiles gave the client the bright and easy to clean bathroom they wanted. Wall mounted vanity units with both drawers and doors, in dark wood with high gloss frontages and a dark counter top with sit on basin, gave them sufficient storage space and brought in warmth to the scheme. Behind the bath a recessed "box" in the wall with light was added, and a large bespoke shower area with both dry and wet seating areas was created on a raised wet tray with LED lights and bespoke glass screens.
